Art & Illustration

My name is Katy Weir, and I am an artist and illustrator in Atlanta, GA. All my life I've loved to paint and draw. I spent much of my childhood crafting and drawing alongside my mom. After dabbling in art school my first 2 years of college, I wound up graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism degree in advertising. I worked in advertising for several years but then took a “break” to raise my five beautiful children. During this time, I managed to draw, paint, and sneak in art classes at my community visual arts center whenever possible. As the kids grew older, I briefly returned to advertising and then went to work in the public school system where I reignited my love of children’s book illustration. Since then, I have poured myself into everything art – acrylic painting, digital processes, gouache and watercolor techniques, surface pattern design – you name it! I spend my time creating and learning every day.

 

When I'm not making art I enjoy gardening, nature hikes, and big family gatherings.
